About The ArTIST
Julie Bergeron

Born in 1966 in Québec, Julie Bergeron currently resides and works in Pantin, Île-de-France. With a background in graphic design, she moved to France in 2002, seeking to explore new forms of expression through ceramics. Her desire to connect with nature and work in three dimensions led her to study under Danielle Lescot from 2008 to 2012, after which she honed her skills as a self-taught artist.

In her Pantin studio, Julie creates intriguing stoneware sculptures that evoke mystical creatures and exotic plant forms. Utilizing the coil technique, she enjoys the freedom to experiment with shapes. Her pieces remain unglazed, showcasing the raw, mineral quality of the clay. By engraving and adding textures, such as suckers and spikes, she infuses her creations with unique details.

Inspired by the works of German artist and biologist Ernst Haeckel, as well as the organic aesthetics of Art Nouveau, Julie's sculptures reflect the beauty and diversity of the natural world. Her recent collections, "Ambivalence" and "Coques," blur the lines between the plant, animal, and microscopic realms. Works like "Dragons des mers," "Chenille," and "Coques à pointes" explore themes of movement and balance, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a world where the organic meets the fantastical.
