Large abstract painting in blue tones with black writings by Belgian artist Charlotte Vindevoghel.
Deconstruct and Transcend through Color
The artist captures light, disturbs it with shadow, and gives the painting its essence: mystery and dream. Charlotte Vindevoghel is drawn to warm colors—red and brown cadences with rare white flickers. Deepening shades of red, the color of life.
Working on large formats, her canvases captivate with their beauty and intimate vibrations. The finesse of colors, applied layer by layer, develops mysterious depths within her paintings. Through a superposition of veils and transparencies, Charlotte Vindevoghel transforms the color red into endless, intense, and luminous variations.
The material is laid in flat areas, thickening in places to create a relief that disrupts the moment of dream and tranquility. By drawing the viewer’s eye in this way, the artist brings the painting to life, “disturbing” an overly smooth structure.
Inspired by travel memories and introspection, her work is structured through thought and gesture, instinct and expression, with a constant quest for energy that ties the whole piece together. Her compositions feature excerpts from Rimbaud, Tchenk, Rilke, Haikus, Sho Do Ka, and her own words, which emerge to become a universal thought.
Charlotte Vindevoghel was born in Belgium in 1953. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Italy, and Switzerland. She graduated from the National School of Architecture and Visual Arts of La Cambre in 1977 and has been a painting professor since 1984.
